MOC BUILD TESTING & ENGINEERING
Have a completed BrickLink Studio model but don't have the parts, time, or experience needed to physically test it?
DrippyBricks provides hands-on build testing and engineering for completed digital models. Using our extensive in-house brick inventory, we'll physically assemble your model, identify stability and buildability problems, engineer practical solutions, and update your BrickLink Studio file to reflect the improvements.
The goal is simple: find the problems that don't always reveal themselves on a computer screen—and fix them before someone else builds your model.
This service is available for completed models of up to 1,000 pieces.

WHAT WE TEST
PHYSICAL BUILDABILITY
Your digital model is physically assembled to identify problems that may not be apparent within BrickLink Studio.
STRUCTURAL STABILITY
Connections and assemblies are evaluated for unwanted flexing, separation, sagging, or structural weakness.

BALANCE & WEIGHT
Models are evaluated for balance, weight distribution, and their ability to reliably support themselves.
ARTICULATION & FUNCTIONS
Moving components, joints, transformations, and other intended functions are tested where applicable.

CONNECTIONS & CLEARANCE
Connections are checked for practical accessibility, interference, clearance, and real-world functionality.

HANDLING & DURABILITY
The completed model is evaluated under reasonable handling to identify areas that are unnecessarily fragile or prone to separation.
ENGINEERING & CORRECTIONS
WE DON'T JUST FIND THE PROBLEM. WE WORK TO FIX IT.
When buildability or stability problems are discovered, DrippyBricks will develop practical solutions while preserving the original design as closely as reasonably possible.
Corrections may include reinforcing weak assemblies, improving connections, resolving part interference, adjusting articulation, improving balance, modifying internal construction, or replacing problematic building techniques.
Approved corrections are incorporated into the BrickLink Studio model so your digital file reflects the physically tested version.
WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE
PHYSICALLY TESTED DESIGN
Your submitted model is physically assembled and evaluated using our in-house brick inventory.
ENGINEERED CORRECTIONS
Identified buildability and stability issues are corrected within the agreed project scope.
UPDATED STUDIO FILE
Receive the revised .io file containing the completed engineering changes.
TESTING SUMMARY
Receive a summary of significant problems identified and the corrections made during testing.
PHYSICAL BUILD PHOTOS
Receive reference photos of your model during or after physical testing.
Please note: Your design WILL NOT be built in the corresponding colors as seen in your studio file.
We primarily test our models using black & grey pieces.
OUR IN-HOUSE BRICK INVENTORY
NO PARTS COLLECTION? NO PROBLEM
DrippyBricks maintains an extensive in-house inventory of building elements used for prototyping and testing.
Clients are not required to purchase or ship the full parts inventory for their submitted model. In most cases, equivalent colors WILL be substituted during testing when exact colors are unnecessary for evaluating structure or functionality.
Our focus during testing is how the model builds and performs—not whether every test piece matches the final color scheme.
IMPORTANT LIMITATION
Physical testing is dependent on the availability of suitable elements within the DrippyBricks testing inventory. If a submitted design requires specialized, uncommon, or unavailable elements that are essential to testing, we'll discuss the limitation with you before beginning the affected work.
WHAT ISN'T INCLUDED?
MOC Build Testing & Engineering does not automatically include:
-
Original model design from scratch
-
Complete redesign of the submitted concept
-
Building instruction creation
-
Instruction sequencing or page design
-
Color-perfect physical reproduction
-
Purchasing a dedicated parts inventory for the client
-
Formal product safety or compliance certification
-
Packaging or manufacturing services
-
Mass-production optimization
-
Unlimited redesigns or revisions
-
Major aesthetic changes unrelated to testing
-
Shipping the physical test model to the client
The physical test build is created using the DrippyBricks in-house testing inventory and remains the property of DrippyBricks. This service provides testing and engineering—not the purchase of a physical set.
$200 PROJECT DEPOSIT
$200 DEPOSIT REQUIRED TO BEGIN
Applied toward your final testing & engineering labor total.
Accepted projects require a $200 deposit before work begins. The deposit is credited toward your final labor balance and is not an additional charge.
For example, if your project requires 6 hours of testing and engineering:
6 hours × $50 = $300
$200 deposit applied
$100 remaining balance
If a project is canceled after work has begun, completed labor will be accounted for at the applicable hourly rate. Refund eligibility for any remaining deposit amount is governed by the DrippyBricks Refund Policy and applicable law.
HOW IT WORKS
01 — SUBMIT
Send your completed .io model and tell us what you'd like tested.
02 — REVIEW
We'll review the model's piece count, complexity, functions, and testing requirements.
03 — ESTIMATE
You'll receive an estimated labor range and project scope before committing.
04 — DEPOSIT
Pay the $100 project deposit to begin.
05 — BUILD
Your model is physically assembled using the DrippyBricks testing inventory.
